I want to report a strange problem with a xps 1210 and find a solution.
When ever the power source changes (batt to mains and mains to batt) the system freezes. I have noticed this with Kubuntu edgy live DVD and also installed on an external USB disk. Same behaviour with SUSE. I have noticed it during SUSE installation also just now. The systems were delivered in Dec 2006. This has been repeated on more than one system. No hardware defects, I have run the Dell diags. I have not checked this with installation on the internal hard disk. No such behaviour with the pre installed WinXP home.

My colleague in office is also getting same model - Dell XPS from bangalore delivered sometime this week. Looks like we'll have fun installing Ubuntu on it :)

Anurag: The hardware is very new. Consider this, all the parts were marked June 2006 and the default BIOS date is May 2006! The problem is only with the newer generation of Dell machines. You have to give it the benefit of doubt.
